A 50-Book Library That Grows With One Child From Age 2 to Age 12

Most children's book series live in one age window. They serve the kid from kindergarten through second grade, then the kid outgrows them and moves on. Some series start over with new characters for the next age. Most just end.

The thing parents tell me they wish they had is a library that grows with a single child. Same characters. Same world. A different developmental stage each time. The six-year-old meets a more capable version of the same Kit they met at age two.

That is the library we are building. Fifty books across four series, one age-stepped journey from age 2 to age 12. Here is the full map.

Series One: Kit's Little Sparks, Ages 2 to 4 (published)

Twenty STEM books in five phases: Wondering, Making, Sharing, Growing Together, Becoming. The toddler meets Kit and Sparks, watches them notice the world, build things from cardboard, put a name and a mark on what they made, share with friends, and say the Inventor's Promise at the end of Book 20.

Series Two: Kit's Inventor Workshop, Ages 4 to 6 (in production, 2027)

Ten picture books. Kit is older now and the world is wider. The themes move from individual habits (wondering, making) to social invention: building with a partner, explaining an idea to someone who does not get it yet, and working out what to do when a friend's idea and yours collide. The art grows up with the reader. More detail, more white space, more text per page.

Series Three: The Inventor's Journal, Ages 6 to 8 (announced, 2028)

Ten illustrated chapter books. Kit is in elementary school and keeps a real inventor's journal, the same kind working inventors keep. The habits that were planted as instincts in Series One become practices a child can name: write it down, date it, draw the next version, tell someone. The reader who started at age 2 with a book about noticing the world is now an eight-year-old following Kit through a school invention fair.

Series Four: Kit & Co., Ages 8 to 12 (announced)

Ten books. Kit is eleven. An invention from Series Three has quietly earned a little money, and six kids and one grandmother have to decide what money is for. They start something of their own. It is the first time the friends run a thing together instead of building a thing together.

Why the same characters across all four

Kids attach to a universe, not to a single book. Harry Potter runs seven books. Narnia runs seven. Anne of Green Gables runs eight. Once a child is in, they want every book in the same world, and they will read up into it.

Kit's Little Sparks is built the same way at a smaller scale. Fifty books, four age tiers, one continuous journey. By age twelve, the kid who started at age two has a shelf that tells one story.
