Read the complete guide to all 20 books in the series: STEM Books for Toddlers

The best inventors do not just make things. They make other inventors.

A tiny knock on the garage door. Lily is there, hugging a worn stuffed bunny named Biscuit. "My bunny keeps falling off my bed. Can you fix it?"

Kit almost starts building. But Sparks whispers: "I think it is time." Kit understands. He should not fix it for Lily. He should help Lily fix it herself.

Kit kneels to Lily's level. "How does it make you feel when Biscuit falls?" Lily whispers: "Sad." Kit hands her a crayon. "Let's draw an idea." Lily draws a wobbly squiggle. "PERFECT!" says Kit. They gather fabric, a clothespin, and tape. They build. It falls apart. Lily's eyes fill up. Kit wants to take over, but he does not. "ALMOST! Let's fix one thing and try again."

They fix. They test. They fix. They test. And then it works. The Bunny Hammock holds Biscuit securely. Lily whispers: "I made that." Then louder: "I MADE THAT!"

This is the entire inventor's journey in miniature, retold through the eyes of a tiny girl, guided by a boy who has walked the path before her. The cycle of mentorship continues.
