It works. But it could work better.
Kit's latest invention functions, but the tape keeps peeling and the edges are rough. Sparks introduces Devi, a girl in a purple wheelchair with incredibly steady hands and the sharpest eyes in the neighborhood. Devi does not tear things apart and start over. She looks closely. Very, very closely.
"I see ONE thing we can fix." They fix it. They test it. Better. Devi looks again. "I see ONE more thing." They fix that too. Even better. Fix, test, fix, test. Each time, one small improvement that makes the whole thing stronger.
By the end, the invention works great. Same cardboard, same tape, same basic design, but refined through patience and precision. Devi's lesson is simple and profound: good things get better slowly. One fix at a time.
This is the final book in the Making phase (Books 5 through 8). Kit has now learned to draw ideas, build with his hands, try again after failure, and improve through iteration. The inventor's toolkit is complete.
