Kit learns to spot puzzles hiding in plain sight.
Sparks introduces Kit to Naya, a confident girl with bright beads in her braids and a magnifying glass she takes everywhere. Naya is a Puzzle Spotter, and she is about to teach Kit how to become one too.
Together, Kit and Naya walk through the neighborhood with fresh eyes. They spot Mr. Gomez struggling to open a jar on his porch. They find a girl stretching on her tiptoes to reach a water fountain. They watch a dog walker tangled up in leashes. Each time, Naya holds up her magnifying glass and calls out, "Uh oh! A PUZZLE!" And each time, Kit repeats it, learning to see everyday frustrations as exciting challenges waiting for a creative mind.
By the final page, Kit spots a puzzle all on his own. Little sister Mia's juice tips over, and Kit's eyes go wide. "I see a PUZZLE!" This moment sets the rest of the series in motion.
